Come join NOW Mid-Suffolk as we present the important documentary/lecture "Killing Us Softly,"

featuring feminist activist and educator Jean Kilbourne. This 45 minute film is the 4th edition of her classic analysis of the role of sexism in advertising and other mass media, fully updated to account for the latest trends and information concerning body image, the harm done to boys and men raised in a culture of violence, the objectification and 'silencing' of women and girls, how advertisers create consumer anxiety and insecurity in order to sell 'junk food companionship,' the commodification of sexuality, and the devaluing of the feminine.

Chris McDougal, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Suffolk Community College, will present the film and lead a discussion afterwards.
